St John's School aims to provide a warm and loving climate of Christian living that nurtures children's faith, sustains their hope, and elicits their charity toward God and others. As a Catholic school, it is organized around Christ himself. He is the center. Our understanding of human nature, the meaning of the world, the purpose of living, and the realities of everyday life are not merely teachings of Christ, but the person of Christ which is the unifier through the Eucharist, penance, and prayer.
Parents are a child's primary educators. We believe that it is essential to form a close relationship between the home and the school. To fulfill the task of education, no one agency can suffice. Home, school, church, and state must cooperate in this endeavor.St John's is a distinctively Christian and Catholic community, whose faculty chooses to be a community with a Christian consciousness, a Christian outlook, and a Christian life. Our students should see more clearly, as they mature, that of all of the persons who influence their lives, the Person of Christ is most unique. They meet God in prayer and worship, in their studies, in their peers, parents, and faculty.
As a Christian educational community, St John's students develop basic skills in the academic disciplines and an appreciation of aesthetic values, patriotism, and good citizenship. Their capacity to weigh moral values and make right judgments is ripened. They have a right to know and love God and daily grow more conscious of the gift of Faith they have received. They are encouraged to be inquisitive, to think and express their thoughts, and freely ask for help. Leadership roles compatible with their talents and maturity are encouraged. The faculty of St John's School is dedicated to the concept that each child has a unique pattern of learning. A child can be successful only when performing at his or her own rate and level of ability. As each student grows, so does their responsibility. Children are expected to attain self-direction in their own learning.
St John's maintains a curriculum and teaching methods that meet individual differences and allow active participation through discovery and decision-making. The faculty aims to sustain and enhance the students' sense of personal worth that begins and is continued in the home.Helping out with activities at St John's makes our school community stronger and helps parents build their Commitment Points!
