Baptism
"Baptism saves you now. It is not a removal of dirt from the body but an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 3:21) The washing of water in Baptism ushers a child or adult into the family of the Church and the beginning of salvation. Parents are asked to contact the parish about their child's baptism as soon as possible, preferably within the first six months of pregnancy.
Reconciliation
"I said, 'I will confess my sins to the Lord,' and you forgave the guilt of my sin" (Ps. 32:5). The Sacrament of Reconciliation is having a face-to-face with God and being absolved of our sins, through the ministry of the Church. It is Jesus, who acts through the priest, who forgives sin. In the Diocese of Fargo, typically second graders receive this Sacrament for the first time. Contact the parish for more information.
Confirmation
"And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said, 'Receive the Holy Spirit'" (John 20:22). In Confirmation, we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit so we can live out a full Christian life and proclaim the Gospel. Confirmation is usually received in third grade; for information on receiving this Sacrament, please call the parish office.
Eucharist
The Eucharist is the Source, Center, and Summit of the Catholic Church. It is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus under the appearances of bread and wine. Those who are in full communion with the Catholic Church and not guilty of moral sin may partake of the Eucharist daily. The Diocese of Fargo typically administers Confirmation and First Eucharist together when children are in the third grade. Contact the parish for more information.
Marriage
"A man shall leave [his] father and [his] mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” (Ephesians 5:31) Marriage is a sacred covenant among Christians because their love becomes an example to the world of Christ's love for the entire Church.
Engaged couples must contact the Pastor 6-9 months in advance to allow for the Marriage Preparation Program. More information about preparation for Matrimony in the Fargo Diocese can be found at their webpage.
For non-Catholics God, our Creator, deeply desires us to know His love for us. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus established a channel for his grace to flow into us and make us his people. This is the Catholic church.
What is RCIA? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process in which adults prepare to enter the Catholic Church. RCIA introduces and explains the teachings, beliefs, and practices of the Catholic faith and prepares individuals to strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, discernment, and formation to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist).
