October 2\4, 2013 (Summarized)
St. John’s Parish Mission Statement: St. John the Evangelist of Wahpeton, a Catholic community of faithful stewards, uniquely gifted, is committed to living fully a spiritual life. We accomplish this mission by:
† Celebrating a sacramental life;
† Being a hospitable, generous, faithful, and forgiving people;
† Serving as a renewing community of life and love;
† Supporting all people in their journey toward the Kingdom of God.
Parish Goal One: To have functioning, inspiring and welcoming religious grounds that will meet the present and future needs of the parish and community by developing and implementing a plan for addressing the education facility needs.
Parish Goal Two: To promote continual spiritual growth and fuller participation throughout the parish. We will obtain this goal by researching, developing and implementing a renewal process; developing effective methods for evangelization; developing effective methods for increasing participation by all; promoting enrollment in the parish school and by creating effective communication tools.
Youth: Approximately 250 kids from around the state attended the Youth Rally held here at St. John’s in October. 10 students from St. Johns were in attendance. Oct. 30th Religious Ed students will hold a trick or Treat Scavenger hunt for food to fill the Thanksgiving baskets. Nov. 6th is the Day of Hope. Theology on Tap Bible Study is held each Sunday Night at 8:30 pm
Buildings and Grounds: Water will be permanently turned off in the old school. The new parking lot is complete and the bill has been paid. The new school has water leaks that still have not been figured out.
Finance: Envelope contributions remain on the same level as last year but expenses have risen so the weekly contributions are not meeting the amount needed.
Prolife: Connie Brandt has asked us all to continue to pray for an end to abortion. We are currently hosting a Baby Shower for St. Gianna’s Home. In the last 10 years 84 babies have been born there.
Endowment: Greg Jeffreys has been busy. The annual school fund drive was held in October. The fall Stewardship Drive will be held in November and he will be holding workshops on endowments in the future.
October 2014 has been chosen for pictures to be taken for a new directory.
November 3rd we will host the “Out of Africa” display and ask for funds to be sent to our sister parish in Tanzania.
Parishioners will be asked to fill out Time/Talent/Treasure forms.
PASTOR'S REMARKS: Fr. Dale thanked all for their hard work.
